The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Ebenezer Doku has been transferred from the Region to the headquarters where he will assume the position of the Director in-charge of Special Duties.
He has been transferred together with his staff officer, Mr. Maister Klay to Gambaga District Police Command in the Nothern Region.
It is not yet clear why they were removed but this is coming at the wake on the shooting of two people at Alavanyo by a Joint Police-Military Taskforce which the Commander had said that the security officers were caught up in crossfire with some unknown assassins during an operation upon a tip-off that some people in the Community were hoarding some ammunition. The citizens rejected him the claim saying the police shot and killed their people as a result of the disagreement between a police officer who owns a wee farm and his employees.
The Commander has also been reported in the media for saying pronouncement the Police had identified weapons manufacturing base at Alavanyo but are unable to move in due to a high level of defenses.
He has, however, wrote a letter to the Ghana Journalist Association President in the Volta Region this morning denying ever saying the Police have discovered gun manufacturing base at Alavanyo and seeking an apology from the media for what he described as fake news.
But Awake News has sighted a video in which the Police Commander, DCOP Doku authoritatively said Alavanyo has gun manufacturing base and that the Police have also identified about 70 AK47 rifles kept somewhere in the community.
In the video, the Commander also said the Police cannot move in to do anything because the area is being protected by the people.
