Exclusive information reaching Awake News indicates that the Registrar of the Ghana School of Law, Nana Osei Bonsu has resigned with immediate effect.

The real reason for his sudden resignation is unknown but Awake News can confirm that the student body was informed that Mr. Osei [ads1]Bonsu was leaving the School to pursue other interests.

However, deep throat sources within the administration of the School alleged that he may have been forced to resign following mounting allegations of improper behavior in respect of admission of students into the Law School.

Admission into the School of Law has been the subject of huge controversy between the duly qualified LL.B degree holders and the General Legal Council (GLC). In 2017, the Supreme Court, in the case of Asare vs Attorney General and General Legal Council declared the institution of an entrance examination and selection interviews prior to admission as illegal and unconstitutional. The Apex Court ordered the Council to take steps to remedy the illegality within six months.

However, the GLC’s failure to comply with the orders of the Apex Court has forced the plaintiff, Professor Kwaku Asare to return to court with a new motion calling on the Highest Court of the land to hold the Council in contempt.

Meanwhile, the Law School is currently in the middle of another admission process with the intention to organise the Entrance Exams on Friday, July 27, 2018, as well as the subjective interviews later. An attempt by the plaintiff, Prof. Asare to injunct the upcoming Entrance Exams suffered a setback on Wednesday, 18th July, 2018 when the Supreme Court struck down the motion for defects in respect of signatures.

Prof. Kweku Asara’s counsel, Lawyer Kofi Bentil who acknowledged the defects in the motion has told the Court he wants to seek leave to withdraw the affidavit filed in the name and person of Prof. Kweku Asare but having another person’s signature.

Some disappointed Law Students who were at the court and spoke to Awake News said that error committed by the senior counsel, Kofi Bentel is unpatentable.

“I’ don’t even understand why he was seeking leave to withdraw the affidavit.” – He said

“In fact, without the affidavit attached to the motion, what will be before the Court”? he quizzed

But the plaintiff has since served notice of his intention to return to court on Thursday, July 19, 2018 to file the motion again.
