Information reaching Awake News indicates that the Ahafo Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Opoku Bobie (Chairman Jerry) is reported dead.

Chairman Jerry is reported dead in ghastly accident on the Acherensua-Hwidiem road after he was returning from a funeral at Achrensua this evening.

It is gathered the astute businessman had his Range Rover vehicle with registration number GT 3150-17 somersaulted leading to his untimely death.

Other passengers in the vehicle were said to be in critical condition and have been sent to the Sunyani Government Hospital.

Chairman Jerry was the former Chair for the Asutifi North constituency of the NPP and lost the then Brong Ahafo Regional Chairmanship position to Mr. Thomas Adu Appiah who is also leading the NPP in the Bono East region in a stern contest.

Chairman Jerry as affectionately called was elected the Chairman of the newly created Ahafo Region after he defeated his contender with 62 of the total vote cast of 102 while Adutwum Gyimah his competitor managed to pull 39.
