Breaking: Asawase Constituency picks form for Mahama; paid in full

Information available Awake News indicates that members of Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region has just picked up the nominations forms for John Mahama at the NDC Head Office.

The group from the Constituency has paid in full the forms fee of GHc20,000.00

The gesture from the Asawase Constituency is following a list of 219 MPs, former appointees and Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) circulating on social media pledging to contribute GHc1,000.00 each as their contribution toward the filing fee for the former President.

Also, the immediate-past Ashaiman Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Shaddad Umar Jallo, has promised to pay half of the GHS400,000 filing fee, former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ohene Agyekum also pledged to pay half while for group of spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai has also pledged to pay half of the filing fee for former president John Mahama.

The opposition NDC has slated January 19, 2019 for its National Delegates Congress to elect its flagbearer. The party has also announced that the forms for the flagbearers is GHc20,000 and GHc400,000 for the filing fear. The announced fee has been met with mixed reactions with many Ghanaians and some of the flagbearer aspirants saying it too high.

Alban Bagbin, the second deputy speaker and flagbearer hopeful has openly criticized the amount saying it is the beginning of corruption.
