The Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency has hinted that there are more nasty bills to be passed by parliament before January 7, 2020.
The MP took to his Facebook handle and indicated that not just only the infamous Public Universities Bill did Nana Addo led administration forced it on Ghanaians using their majority in parliament, but more of such bills are yet to be pushed through.
He espoused that resistance to such bills must grow stronger, as the NPP is bent on using their majority in this 7th parliament after the elections to have their way with bills they shelved due to the elections.
“It seems to me that most of the obnoxious pieces of legislation which faced strong resistance from the general public and which the government assured had been shelved going into the December 7 election are all now being brought back to Parliament during these dying days of the 7th Parliament and especially as the government sees that it does not have the numbers to pursue these unpopular bills in the 8th Parliament”.
According to him, “the Public University Bill and the Pre Tertiary Education Bill are but few examples on the list. Others are on their way in the Energy and Finance sectors”.
We must brace up for the next few days and keep our focus also on Parliament else we would have none but ourselves to blame, he added.
The honorable Member of Parliament emphasized that “the resistance must get stronger and bolder!”.
Meanwhile, the majority of Ghanaians have expressed disappointment in the Nana Addo’s led administration for passing the public university bill at a dying minute. This has already generated anger among the lecturers of the various public Universities.
