The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress NDC, John Dramani Mahama has promised to build a new modern hospital for Bongo District if he gets elected on 7th December 2020 as President.
John Mahama, who is currently on a campaign tour of the Upper East Region yesterday 24th November 2020 noted that the hospital will ease the burden of people in the District who seek health care at the Regional hospital in Bolgatanga. Mr. Mahama added that his pledge to build a new modern hospital for the area will reduce pressure on the Regional hospital.
Mr. Mahama’s promise of a new modern hospital received an overwhelming acceptance and applause from the people as they have been clamoring for a new hospital. The old District hospital has in recent years became an albatross due to the lack of land to expand it and improve on its capacity.
He emphasized the next NDC government will ensure this is achieved in addition to a Technical Vocation Centre that will grantee the training of skilled labour in the District.
He also took a swipe at the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for abandoning the rural electrification initiative in the District. The program was supposed to connect 42 communities to the National Grid but has been halted for the past four years.
However, Mr. Mahama assured the people of reviving that initiative to ensure the connection of electricity to those 42 communities without light.
Mahama said ” after we (NDC) left all those electrification programs have come to a standstill, but I know NDC is coming back. I assure all those communities that you have been in darkness for four years because the NPP has been in power but as soon as the NDC comes back we are going to connect your electricity to your communities”.
