The National Minigolf Team – Black Patters would depart the shores of Ghana on Thursday, September 7 to participate in the World Minigolf Championship in Croatia.
The tournament scheduled for September 11 to 23 is expected to draw about 250 golfers across the globe with Ghana fielding the highest national team contingent.
President of the Ghana Minigolf Federation (GMF), Mr Talal Fatal said Ghana would be represented by 20 golfers who were selected based on their performance at various competitions and events organized by the Federation, including the maiden GMF league.
He revealed that team Ghana would pitch camp in Frankfurt, Germany for training ahead of the tournament.
He mentioned that Ghana would take part in two tournaments; the World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) to be played on a Minigolf Open System course and the Minigolf World Championship also be played on a Feitgolf.
He also noted that Ghana was the first and only African country that would be participating in the two competitions.
Team Ghana would be represented by; Solomon Addai, Bright Frimpong, Ibrahim Osunaba, Francis Xavior, Morris Ofei, Richard Amoah, Prince Odame, Adoboe Rejoice and Maruf Ahmed.
The rest are; Enoch Nyarko, Emmanuel Osei, Philip Selasi, Kweku Asare, Rocky Addo, Peter Obeng, Faddi Fattal, Hala Fattal, Raphael Kyei and Akwesi Antwi.
The President again stated that the Ghana Minigolf Federation would begin to introduce the game to the youth especially those in the second cycle institutions and also begin a corporate league.
Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Pius Enam Hadzide commended the Federation and the players on their dedication and commitment to represent Ghana at the World stage.
He promised the team it would they would be accorded all the courtesies it deserves as a national team and praised GMF boss, Fattal for his contribution to the development of sports in the country.”
