Leading Ghanaian dancehall artists are set to rock one big stage at the LA Pleasure Beach for the 2017 Talents Bet & Battle being organized by Queen and Mother of Ghana’s dancehall, Billy Jane.
The event which is one of the biggest platforms for up and coming artists to interact with the biggest shorts in the music industry will feature Kings and Queens like Shatta Wale, Stonebowy, Samini, Mzvee, [ads1]Billy Jane, Kaakie among others.
The Talents Bet & Battle Show is an initiative of Billy Jane, the CEO of Billy Jane Productions located at the La Pleasure Beach. The show seeks to identify, groom and support young artists with both technical and financial resource.
Speaking to Awake Showbiz, Billy Jane said the Talents Bet & Battle which is in a form of a contest aims at creating a strong generation of talented youth who would help build a stronger music industry and create wealth and contribute towards national development.
“We organize this contest every Thursday night at the Billy Jane Restaurant & Bar, Labadi Pleasure Beach; however we also host mainstream artists on Sundays, to entertain our audience and as well build their fan base” – Billy Jane said in an interview
She noted that up and coming artists in Ghana have challenges of getting into the limelight because there was no proper support system, particularly with regards to funding and mentoring.
Billy Jane revealed that after spending some time with her family in Jamaica and observed how their systems work, she returned to Ghana to launch the ‘Dancehall King/Queen Contest’ in 2010, which registered artists like Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Epixode, Budda Man, Popson, among others.
The brainchild of the seven-year-old event said that the contest would also cover performances in all categories of music as well as dancing and multicultural performances from all genres.
The event is being supported by Guinness Ghana, Kasapreku, Bieja Bitters, BellAqua, Silver Star, La Beach Hotel, Senyo Global, Golden Tulip, Japan Motos with media partnership from Metro TV, UTV, Awake Newspaper, GTV.
