Press Statement:
Be Fair To Non Akans, Mr. President – Democratic Youth Alliance, Volta
We, members of Democratic Youth Alliance, Volta chapter are highly flabbergasted to see a release purportedly authored, and published by Mr Eugene Ahin, the director of communication at the presidency suspending the deputy sports minister [Hon Pius Enam HADZIDE] for his alleged involvement in some underhand dealings that led to the sending and deportation of some 60fake journalists from Gold coast, [ads1]Australia.
In as much as we do not and shall not support any act by any son or daughter of Volta that would injure the very high moral values and norms which our forefathers left for us, we are shocked at the alacrity with which the suspension was made. Could it be because he is a non Akan?
For the 15 months that you have been in office, Mr President, your government was hit hard with a lot of scandals. Even though we were surprised seeing Pius defends the indefensible, you have either turned deaf ear or cleared the accused persons either before investigations commenced or in the middle of investigation depending on how close they are with you.
1.Mr President, you cleared the Hon Trade minister of any wrong doing in the infamous ‘Cash for Seat scandal’ even before a committee was set up to investigate him.
2. You went on to swear Hon Agyako, the energy minister into office at the time, a humongous bribery allegation was hanging around his neck. He was at post while investigation was ongoing
3. You cleared Mr Alfred Obeng, the BOST boss from the most gargantuan corruption scandal in the history of Ghana which earned you the nickname ‘Clearing Agent’ by Manasseh Azure.
4. You turned deaf ear to the call on you by the Brong Ahafo Regional youth organizer of your party (the NPP), Abronye to investigate the Brong Ahafo Regional minister for his involvement in serial corruption.
5. Mr. President, your 2 deputy chiefs of staff who were accused of corruption that even made Maame Tiwaa fall sick were at post while investigation was ongoing. It is a public knowledge that the CID boss investigating the issue acted compromisingly.
6. Mr President, you called your cousin, the finance minister an asset to Ghana at the time CHRAG declared him guilty of being in a potential conflict of interest position. He is still at post and defending himself in the law court.
7. Mr. President even when you read a plagiarized speech that brought a monumental shame to mother Ghana, which is also a crime, nothing happened to you.
You turned blind eyes and ears to the recklessness and lawlessness of some NPP youths who called themselves invisible forces.
Interestingly, you have decided to suspend HADZIDE Pius, a non Akan for an allegations yet to be fully investigated. If all the above officer were at post while they were being investigated, why couldn’t Pius enjoy same privilege? Could it be because he is a Non Akan?
We are not against you fighting crime but we are against the ethnocentric approach being used.
Thank you for sacrificing an Ewe.
…Signed…
Bismark Newton Haduvorsah, President. {Democratic Youth Alliance, Volta}
