Vice President and flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is alleged to have dismissed one of his economic policy advisors, Dr. Kabiru Mahama.

Dr. Mahama, now the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Walewale Constituency, assumed this position after the incumbent MP, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, withdrew following two violent and inconclusive parliamentary primaries. He had served as an Economic Advisor in the Office of the Vice President since 2017.

According to Eric Adjei, Deputy Spokesperson for Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang‘s campaign, Dr. Mahama was dismissed from his role three months ago.

Mr. Adjei further claimed that Dr. Mahama’s decision to contest Madam Zuweira, a blood relative of Vice President Bawumia, was a contributing factor to his dismissal.

“Bawumia met with some delegates yesterday to support his sister in the primaries against Dr. Kabiru, whom he dismissed three months ago as an advisor because he contested against his sister in an election.,” he wrote in a social media post sighted by Awakenewsroom.com.
