The grandson of Dombo, who doubles as the national communications team member for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Nanfaa Dombo, has indicated that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best bet for the NPP to break the eight-year jinx in the 2024 elections.
He reiterated that it is not a good candidate who wins elections but rather a smart and strategic one, and that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the sole contender who can lead the NPP to victory in the 2024 general election.
He said the Vice President is the best candidate to extend the mandate of the NPP in the 2024 general elections.
Mr. Dombo accounted for the candidature of Dr. Bawumia during an encounter with Appiah-Kubi on an expatiation of Dr. Bawumia’s experience and smartness to the NPP when he was asked, What’s the uniqueness and why choosing the vice president to lead the NPP in 2024?
In his address, Dombo said, “Hard times create men; easy times create weak men; and it is time to create warriors”, With his experience as a national communications team member of the party and having given careful consideration to all the aspirants, and with the benefit of the current situation of the party and the country, the best person to lead the NPP into the future is the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“Since some delegates started the flagbearership campaign, I have not been expressive. But today I will speak. Since I joined the communication team, I have had the pleasure of working under several stalwarts of the party. I know the NPP and the other 10 people contesting very well. Anyone who knows me knows that I speak the truth, and no one can influence me with anything. I’m saying this with facts that only Dr. Bawumia can lead the NPP to break the eight”, Mr. Dombo stated.
He explained that the party learned its lesson in 2016 and won the elections, saying that there are some candidates who are attacking the NPP party but not saying what they will do to maintain power, therefore making the party unpopular.
“I like all the aspirants, but I love the NPP more. But if we look at what is happening in Ghana and the NPP now, we are looking into the future. Based on my knowledge of the party and judging from what is happening, I want to say and reiterate that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best choice,” he added.
Mr. Dombo narrated how the vice president had sacrificed for the party based on consistency, performance, influence, and impacts, thus formulating policies for Ghanaians. He had been humiliated by the party and the opposition party, but he had been faithful to the nation at large.
He said the NPP delegates ought to vote for a strategic and smart candidate like Dr. Bawumia for the 2024 polls, adding that he’s the most experienced, strategic, and smart politician for the party if the NPP wants to remain in power.
In his opinion, it would be suicidal for the NPP as a party to overlook all the qualities of Dr. Bawumia and deny him the opportunity to lead the party as its flag bearer.
