However, Barcelona convinced the former Spanish midfielder to stay on. But two weeks after he rescinded his decision and agreed to stay, he was acrimoniously axed from the role.

A meeting with the club’s President, Joan Laporta ended with the coach’s departure which was immediately followed by the appointment of his successor.

Since taking over in 2021, the former Al Sadd manager led the club to the La Liga title and Super Cup glory. They have, however, continued to falter in Europe with their latest outing ending in the quarter-final against PSG.

In 141 games, Xavi Hernández clocked 88 wins, 24 draws and 29 defeats resulting in a 62.41% win rate.

A few hours after Barcelona sacked Xavi Hernández, they reached an agreement with former Bayern Munich and Germany manager Hansi Flick as his replacement.

Pini Zahavi, agent for the German manager revealed that a two-year contract has been agreed, keeping him with the Catalans until the end of the 2025/26 season. He joins with two of his German assistants, sources close to the deal revealed.
