Banking sector reforms: Coalition for Restoration to hold a public forum in Takoradi

A Civil Society Organisation, Coalition For Restoration (CFR), will on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 10 am hold a town hall meeting at Ghana National Association Of Teachers (GNAT) Hall at Takoradi in the Western Region.

The forum which is on the theme “Assessing Banking Sector Reforms; Impact On The Ordinary Ghanaian” seeks to assess the impact that the Bank of Ghana’s reforms in the financial sector since 2017 has that saw the collapse of 9 Universal Banks, 23 savings and loans companies and 347 microfinance institutions.

Isaac Adongo, MP Bolga Central; Ato Forson, MP Ajumako; Fiifi Kwetey, MP Ketu South; Mr Isaac Danso, Banking Industry player are expected to address the gathering.

According to the organizers in a public invitation signed by George Loh and sighted by Awake News “The objective of this town hall meeting is to trace developments in the reform process, assess it’s effectiveness and impact on various stakeholders such as for employees, depositors, ordinary Ghanaians, owners of financial institutions and the way forward.”

ASSESSING THE BANKING SECTOR REFORMS; THE IMPACT ON THE ORDINARY GHANAIAN

Coalition For Restoration (CFR), a Civil Society Organisation, invites the general public to a town hall meeting slated for Wednesday 9th October, 2019 The Bank of Ghana since 2017 has embarked on a program of reforms of the banking sector leading to the implementation of a new minimum capital for Universal Banks.

The reform has resulted in the collapse of 9 Universal Banks, 23 savings and loans companies and 347 microfinance institutions. In the process several jobs have been lost, depositors are struggling to recover their deposits and confidence in the financial sector at its lowest ebb.

The objective of this town hall meeting is to trace developments in the reform process, assess it’s effectiveness and impact on various stakeholders such as for employees, depositors, ordinary Ghanaians, owners of financial institutions and the way forward.
