Former Ambassador to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare, has issued a stern warning to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) against attempting to replicate the violence and intimidation tactics employed during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
Speaking on Accra FM’s ‘Citizen’s Show,’ Alhaji Sinare, who is also the National Chairman of the Zongo Caucus Working Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), warned the NPP that Ghanaians would not tolerate a repeat of the “Ayawaso nonsense” on Election Day.
Alhaji Sinare’s comments followed statements by the NPP that they would not relinquish power to the NDC.
The former Ambassador expressed the view that Ghanaians would not spare the ruling government if they attempted to rig the elections in their favor.
He argued that the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, which took place on January 31, 2019, and was marred by violence and intimidation, was a rehearsal for the 2024 elections. However, he asserted that such tactics would not succeed this time, as Ghanaians are angry and hungry for a change of government.
Alhaji Sinare emphasized that the NDC and Ghanaians would fight against any attempts to undermine the electoral process and the security of citizens. He called on the NPP to focus on losing the elections through legitimate means rather than resorting to violence and intimidation.
