Urgent: Serious Integrity Issues with Voter Register in Awutu Senya East

Recent revelations have uncovered a significant breach in the integrity of the voter register for Awutu Senya East. Our scrutiny has identified over 500 duplicate records, each with sequentially altered identification numbers, indicating a potentially deliberate attempt to compromise the electoral process.

This alarming situation demands immediate and thorough intervention from the Electoral Commission (EC). We are calling for an urgent response to address the following critical concerns:

1. Explanation for Duplicates: The EC must provide a detailed and transparent explanation for the existence of these duplicate records. This issue raises serious questions about the accuracy and reliability of the voter register.

2. Data Validation Procedures: The public deserves clarity on the data validation procedures implemented by the EC. It is imperative to disclose the methodologies used to ensure the accuracy of voter records and prevent such discrepancies.

3. Database Management Evidence: The EC should present evidence that their database management system is equipped to effectively track and manage changes in voter records. This will help assess whether the system has failed or if there are other underlying issues.

4. Independent Audit Findings: We demand the EC disclose findings from any independent audits or verifications conducted on the voter register. Independent assessments are crucial for verifying the credibility of the register and identifying any potential manipulations.

5. Biometric Systems Proof: The effectiveness of the EC’s biometric verification systems must be demonstrated. This includes evidence that the biometric systems are functioning correctly and are capable of preventing duplicate registrations.

6. Anomaly Investigation Protocols: The EC should outline the protocols in place for investigating and addressing anomalies within the voter register. Clear procedures are essential for rectifying these issues and preventing future occurrences.

7. Registration Process Details: A comprehensive timeline and methodology of the recent voter registration process must be provided. Understanding the process is critical to identifying potential points of failure or manipulation.

The gravity of this situation cannot be overstated. The integrity of our electoral process is at stake, and the public’s trust in democratic institutions is being undermined. Immediate and decisive corrective actions are required to address these issues and restore confidence in our electoral system.
We call upon all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and the general public, to closely monitor this situation and advocate for transparency and accountability. The seriousness of these allegations demands a swift and thorough response from the Electoral Commission.
