Youth for Human Rights Africa (YoHRA) has called on health facilities in the capital of Accra ‘to do all possible within their capability to ensure deaths are reduced whiles the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) puts adequate measures in place to bring some reliefs to the affected”
This call was contained in a press statement signed by the [ads1]Communications Director, Mr. Christopher Selorm Ankou earlier today following the explosion of the atomic junction gas filling yesterday night that claimed more than five lives and scores injured.
The continental human rights organization also sent a message of condolence to the bereaved families and the injured in the Atomic Junction Gas explosion which occurred yesterday.
YoHRA also commend the security services especially the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for their timely response in controlling the inferno.

YoHRA GRIEVES WITH FAMILIES OF DECEASED AND INJURED IN “ATOMIC GAS EXPLOSION
Youth for Human Rights Africa notes with regret the explosion of a gas filling station located at Atomic Junction, near Madina, a suburb of Accra.
The said explosion as reported by media houses occurred between the hours of six (6) and seven (7) in the evening of Saturday.
With a heavy heart, we express our deepest condolences to the families who have lost dear ones in the inferno, and for the many injured, we pray speedy recovery.
We also congratulate the security services especially the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for their timely response in controlling the inferno.
We congratulate the media for timely bringing the incident to the attention of the public hereby raising the red flag that saved unsuspecting pedestrians and motorists who’s usual route was affected by the explosion.
YoHRA congratulates also the generality of Ghanaians especially users of social media (Whatsapp & Facebook especially) who were prompt in spreading the news via social media and being good neighbors.
We encourage health facilities all over the capital to do all possible within their capability to ensure deaths are reduced whiles the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) puts adequate measures in place to bring some reliefs to the affected.
We also sympathize with all who have lost valuable property in this regard.
As a people and a country, it is time we are more proactive in averting some of these incidents and government and other state actors in positions of responsibility must begin to take pragmatic steps in this direction.
