The year is coming to an end, so as tradition demands many organizations, firms and institutions will be giving back to society.
The Association of Nigerian Women in Ghana, an association that unifies Nigerian women and women of other nationalities married to Nigerians and resident in Ghana, has taken an early lead to give back to society.
On the 9th of December 2017, the association led by Mrs. Hope Oscar Ugoh (the president) and other executives donated items to the Female inmates of the Nsawam Maximum Security prison. The items included, sanitary products, flour and baking ingredients, toiletries, cleaning products and many more, intended to give the inmates a merry yuletide.

Amidst the food and drinks, the President of the organization gave the inmates a word of encouragement and made special donations to the 3 Nigerian female inmates at the prison. The donation to Nigerian inmates was based on a special request from the inmates themselves and included indigenous Nigerian spices, Ingredients, and stock-fish.
Prison officials expressed their joy and encouraged the association to return with more goodies. An inmate who hails from Onitsha in Nigeria gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the inmates and encouraged the public to stay away from crime and “quick-money-schemes”.
Speaking to Mrs. Hope Oscar Ugoh, President of the association, she stated that the donation is a way to give back to their host nation this year, like they’ve done in the previous years. She mentions previous projects like, donations to the Senior Correctional Center, Teshie Orphanage, Osu Children’s home, Renovation of the maternity ward at Ridge Hospital and many more.
The organization assured it’s commitment to promoting lawful living among its members and Nigerian youth in Ghana.
