The youngest Assemblymember in the Akatsi South Municipality, Hon. Japhet Festus Gbede has organized a health screening and treatment for over 250 people in the Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area.
The initiative according to Hon. Gbede was to provide safe and proper healthcare services to the aged, PWDs, and other vulnerable groups with a focus on women and children. It was carried out in collaboration with the Akatsi South Municipal Hospital with a team of medical doctors, laboratory technicians, physician assistants, and nurses drawn from various parts of the country.
Residents from Have-Fiakpokorpe, Wuxor, Sremanu and their surrounding communities who benefited from the exercise were screened for blood pressure, high blood sugar, diabetes, hepatitis B and malaria among others. Medicines were given to beneficiaries to treat ailments they were diagnosed with.
Hon. Gbede indicated that he is committed to finding solutions to the challenges facing the health sector in the electoral area. He said he expressed hope that the periodic screening exercise will improve the health of the people to actualize the Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Gbede commended the Municipal Hospital for coming to the aid of his people.
