Arsenal delivered a remarkable performance in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, securing a commanding 3-0 victory at the Emirates.

The win left the defending champions on the brink of elimination, with Arsenal putting themselves in a dominant position heading into the second leg.

The match was billed as one of the biggest nights at the Emirates since the stadium’s opening, with the crowd buzzing with anticipation.

Real Madrid’s early threat came from Vinicius Junior, who capitalized on a poor pass from Bukayo Saka, but William Saliba was quick to intervene and prevent an early goal.

Despite this scare, Arsenal soon took control of the match, pressing Madrid and exploiting their passivity without possession.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, playing a key role in the midfield, initiated a move that led to a powerful shot from Thomas Partey, which was well saved by Madrid’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Kylian Mbappe had a few half-chances for Madrid, but Arsenal’s defense held firm, and they ended the first half on top.

The second half saw Declan Rice steal the show, scoring two spectacular free-kicks that put Arsenal firmly in the driver’s seat.

His clinical strikes left Courtois with no chance and stunned the Madrid defense. The Gunners weren’t finished yet, and shortly after, Mikel Merino added a third goal with a composed finish from outside the box, giving Arsenal a three-goal cushion.

Madrid’s night took a further turn for the worse when Eduardo Camavinga was shown a red card late in the game, adding to their misery.

With Real Madrid facing a near-impossible task in the second leg, Arsenal now look poised to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Overall, it was a dominant and clinical display from Arsenal, who thoroughly deserved their commanding lead in this tie. The impressive performances of Rice, Merino, and the resolute defense ensured that Arsenal sent out a strong message to the European elite.
