The chairperson for the Electoral Commission conduit and credibility has hit the rock bottom as Ghanaians demand she apologize to the minority.
Well-minded citizens across the globe are calling for an unqualified apology from the EC to NDC MPs while others troll her for disrespecting and embarrassing members of parliament.
The Chairperson of the Commission Mrs. Jean Mensah on the 22nd of December 2020 refused to avail herself and receive a petition from the Minority MP’s. These honorable members of the august house marched to the Commission to present a petition on the disputed Techiman south seat.
However, in a response to redeem themselves of their absurdity, Jean Mensah reply is that the notice from the Minority leader to them indicating they shall be presenting a petition to the EC on 22nd December was untimely, meanwhile, the Commission had the time and called on the police to block these MPs.
The “Respect My Vote” Movement has today issued a press release calling on the EC to render an apology to the Minority. The Movement further urge the minority to reject any budgetary allocation to the Electoral Commission.
They emphasized “We are calling on Jean Mensa to publicly apologize to the members for the disrespect shown them yesterday.
In the absence of that minority, MPs must ensure that they reject any Constitutional Instrument brought to Parliament by the Electoral Commission. We further urge the MPs to reject budgetary allocations to the Electoral Commission.
The arrogance of Jean Mensa and the leadership of the EC is out of hand and must be met with commensurate measure”.

Treatment Meted Out to Members of Parliament by Police, Electoral Commission Embarrassing
Accra, 23rd December 2020 Respect My Vote Movement condemns in no uncertain terms the disgusting and contemptuous treatment meted to Honourable Members of Parliament who marched to the offices of the Electoral Commission on Tuesday 22nd December 2020.
Videos of the incidents that went viral show how overzealous police officers tried to prevent Members of Parliament from presenting their petition to the Electoral Commission.
Electoral Commission officials also failed to come out and receive the petition from the Honourable Members of Parliament citing short notice.
We are urging the leadership of the minority in parliament to institute a human rights action against the police officers including the officers who supervised yesterday’s unprofessional conduct on the part of the police and ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
The IGP must also be hauled before Parliament to answer questions on yesterday’s harassment of members of Parliament.
We are calling on Jean Mensa to publicly apologize to the members for the disrespect shown to them yesterday.
In the absence of that minority, MPs must ensure that they reject any Constitutional Instrument brought to Parliament by the Electoral Commission. We further urge the MPs to reject budgetary allocations to the Electoral Commission.
The arrogance of Jean Mensa and the leadership of the EC is out of hand and must be met with the commensurate measure.
