Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo has made history by overtaking Michael Essien in the Premier League goal rankings for Ghanaian players.
Semenyo scored his ninth goal of the season on Sunday, April 27, in a match against Manchester United. He struck in the 23rd minute after receiving a pass from Evanilson, giving AFC Bournemouth an early lead.
This goal raised his total Premier League goals to 18, moving him one ahead of Chelsea legend Michael Essien, who scored 17 during his career. Semenyo now ranks fifth among Ghanaian players in Premier League history.
At 25 years old, Semenyo is having his best season so far. He has a real chance to move further up the list before the campaign ends.
He trails Andre Ayew, who has 21 goals, by three and is four behind Jeffrey Schlupp with 22.
Jordan Ayew, captain of the Black Stars, leads the chart with 41 goals, followed by Anthony Yeboah with 24.
If Semenyo maintains his form, he could soon break into the top three and continue climbing the rankings.
