A senior lecturer at Kumasi Technical University, A senior lecturer at Kumasi Technical University, Dr Sampson Anomah, has vowed to sue members of Organised Labour who are prepared to embark on the intended October 10, 2024 nationwide indefinite strike.
According to him, Organised Labour’s nationwide indefinite strike is not backed by law, hence illegal.
Organised Labour in an attempt to pressure government to preserve water bodies, forest reserves and farmlands declared a sit down industeral action starting from October 10, 2024.
In light of the above Dr Sampson who is a member of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) said “I don’t really know what they are doing. They started this issue without informing us, yet they asked us to strike. We kicked against that”.
He then revealed that he and his cohorts are preparing for a legal battle against Organised Labour if the strike takes effect on October 10. He further labeled Organised Labour demands and ultimatum to government as unreasonable and mischievous.
“We have already planned our legal action. We will not sit down and let them take us for a ride and mix politics with this galamsey issue. This problem has existed for over a decade, and they haven’t provided any solutions. Now, they give an ultimatum of just 60 days? This is political,” Dr Sampson told Joynews last night.
Dr. Anomah concluded that “If they proceed with this unlawful strike, we will go to court and let the law decide.”
