Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Fran García will start at left back in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final.

Injuries to Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba forced the change. But García’s role isn’t just to fill a gap, he must face one of football’s brightest young talents: Lamine Yamal.

In a high-stakes El Clásico, García will be tasked with stopping Barcelona’s 17-year-old sensation. Yamal has dazzled fans all season with his speed, confidence, and creativity. Ancelotti said the decision was clear.

“Fran García is our only option at left back, and he’s ready. He understands the responsibility that comes with this match.”

García rejoined Madrid from Rayo Vallecano last summer. Though he has had limited starts, he brings energy and speed to the flank.

These traits will be crucial in his duels with Yamal. Ancelotti expressed full confidence in the 24-year-old.

“We know Yamal is a special talent, but Fran has the pace, focus, and experience to handle pressure. He’ll be ready.”

García isn’t always in the spotlight. Still, his sharp defensive instincts and quick recoveries make him a key asset. He must stay disciplined, time his tackles well, and deny Yamal space to operate.

Saturday’s final could be decided on the flanks. For Fran García, this match is more than a starting opportunity, it’s a chance to silence a star and help Real Madrid lift the trophy.
