When Akufo Addo appointed Carlos Ahenkorah as Deputy Trade and Industry Minister, he did not tell him to appoint himself as a deputy Minister, failure of which he (the President) will appoint him.

The President took a decision to appoint him without giving him the opportunity to appoint himself. As appointing authority, the President has the power to revoke Carlos Ahenkorah’s appointment on any day without explaining to him why he fired him.

This explained why Vincent Sowah Odotei, then deputy Minister of Communications was axed without any reason. Boakye Agyarko, then Energy Minister was also treated the same.

In fact, any President incensed by the conduct of any of his appointees, as I already pointed out, can fire him/her at any time. Former President Mahama did it in the case of Victoria Hammah. In the case of Carlos Ahenkorah, we’re reading that the presidency has given him an ultimatum to resign or be fired.

That is nonsense! Carlos Ahenkorah does not deserve to spend a second at the Ministry after confessing his own sins on live radio. If indeed the President appreciates the magnitude of his conduct and the number of Ghanaian lives he has put in danger, he should have been fired by now.

In any serious political Party, Carlos Ahenkorah must forfeit his second term bid. As for his position as MP, I won’t talk about it.

We know what our Parliament has become so nobody will say anything to him. But it is time the people of Tema West punish this wicked character as MP. I’m just imagining the psychological trauma those who came into contact with him at the various registration centers he visited are going through. No MP will tour a registration center without hugging or shaking hands with people. Worse of all, he made his driver who had also tested positive drive him to the centers. What kind of madness is this? Carlos Ahenkorah deserves to be stoned to death. Resigning as deputy Minister alone cannot mitigate the harm he has done to society and innocent lives.
