Ghanaian rapper Amerado has made a candid revelation: he doesn’t enjoy being an artiste. According to him, his entry into the music scene was driven by the need to survive, not a deep-seated passion for the craft.
In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Amerado explained, “The main reason I got into music was to survive, I just wanted to eat. Most of the time, I don’t even enjoy being an artiste.”
He said one of the biggest challenges is the unspoken pressure from fans, especially when in public spaces like traffic. “I feel restricted. Whenever you’re in public, especially in traffic, you’re expected to hand out money to fans,” he shared.
Still, Amerado noted there’s one aspect of the job that brings him joy: live performances. “Performing on stage is the moment I truly enjoy being an artiste. It’s when I feel the connection and see the real impact of my music,” he said.
When asked what he would have done if music hadn’t worked out, the rapper was quick to respond: football. “I would’ve been a footballer,” he revealed.
Amerado’s honesty shines a light on the real pressures behind the glamor of fame and the human stories behind celebrity careers.
