A youth activist and student of Gbewaa Colege of Education in the Upper East Region, Mbugri Isaac Awinbod has said the peanut allowance of GHc209 per month for 8 months in a year can secure employment.
“I write to register our displeasure and disappointment on how this government officials think the “bursaries” they call allowance is enough to win our sympathy since the government have being on us not for the good reasons.”
According to Amb. Mbugri in a letter to Awake News’ Editor, “since the change of government, the education minister had seen the CoE as his playing ground and exactly exhibited that regardless of the impact on us”.
He noted that there is no doubt that “the teacher trainees as at the 2016 general elections, contributed like never before to the 53% victory of Nana Addo over his main contender, H.E John Mahama who secured only 44% since the population of the trainees across the 49 CoEs in the country is about 49000”
“And notwithstanding that, we are the most harassed with unproductive policies, and mostly neglected by this government. Our opinions are useless, our cry is merciless and our plead invaluable to H.E NANA AKUFFO ADDO” – he writes
He said “We, therefore, prefer “employment to allawa” as it was wise for the previous John Mahama government to concentrate on the employment – you too can do same!”

ALLOWANCE NOT ENOUGH TO WIN TEACHER TRAINEES SYMPATHY.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”.-Martin Luther King Jr.
I write to register our displeasure and disappointment on how this government officials think the “bursaries” they call allowance is enough to win our sympathy since the government have being on us not for the good reasons.
On 28/02/19 that the minister of finance and the SLTF in their own will paid one semester allowance leaving some arrears but that have left many questions unanswered and a lot of doubts uncleared as far as our final postings are concerned.
Not like the previous years and governments, the colleges of education have had countless harassment and inhuman treatment from the Nana Addo led administration. Counting from;
1. CETAG strike which led to the change in the academic calendar
2. The saddened introduction of teacher lisensure exams
3. The unexpected NSS introduction and
4. The over-nights change of colleges of education to university colleges of education which all came without road map, rendering us irrelevant .
Since the change of government, the education minister had seen the CoE as his playing ground and exactly exhibited that regardless of the impact on us.
But it is of no doubt that, the teacher trainees as at the 2016 general elections, contributed like never before to the 53% victory of Nana Addo over his main contender, H.E John Mahama who secured only 44% since the population of the trainees across the 49 CoEs in the country is about 49000 . And not withstanding that ,we are the most harassed with unproductive policies, and mostly neglected by this government. Our opinions are useless, our cry is merciless and our plead invaluable to H.E NANA AKUFFO ADDO.
The Nana Addo government had left teacher trainees fate to the mercies of the climate, since our dreams and desires has lost the fertile grounds to germinate. Simply, the Ghc 209 a month for 8 months in a year can secure employment.
We, therefore, prefer “employment to allawa” as it was wise for the previous John Mahama government to concentrate on the employment – you too can do same!
I, therefore, call on all and sundry who might have the ear of the president to kindly let our cry and plead get his ear for listen to us no more !
Let it be said that teacher trainees erred and were punished so our future generations wouldn’t repeat same mistake !
The strongest has a way so the weakest ! Never again shall we subject our innocent fate to political harassment like this!
OUR FATE HAS NO GROUNDS TO SURVIVE!!
Thank you!

Mbugri Isaac Awinbod
