The communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has dared president Akufo-Addo’s to speak about the contentious bribery allegation rather than make his appointees defend him.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday December 4, the maverick young politician stated categorically that president Akufo-Addo’s silence is an indication that he is guilty of receiving the alleged US $40,000 bribe.
Sammy Gyamfi addressed the media on the video making rounds on social media, showing the president taking money as an inducement so he could allow the Director of Urban Roads stay in office, who in 2017 came under attacks from the NPP officials as being an NDC person, hence needed to be sacked from office.
Sammy Gyamfi stressed that during Mahama’s regime any alleged corruption case was dealt with, starting with president Mahama addressing the issue himself and prosecuting an investigation.
He added that when Crown court of UK brought out a judgement on Airbus commission payments irregularities, the NPP were urging Mahama to speak, then he quizzed, what is preventing Nana-Addo from speaking on the video ?”.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who is speaking for you was not in the room, you were only four people when you took the money with both hands like goalkeeper Allui Jarah so why is Kojo Oppong Nkurumah speaking for you? Mustapha Hamid was not there why is he speaking for you ? President Akuffo Addo is a lawyer for how many years standing ? He can speak for himself, he is on a campaign trail, this is a serious matter, the international community is watching, let him speak just like president Mahama spoke on the Airbus matter”, he said.
He further noted, “nobody can speak for president Akuffo Addo on this matter. In fact his silence is evidence of his guilt, his silence is evidence of his indisputable guilt”.
Sammy Gyamfi threw a challenge at the NPP officials who are trying to use Airbus for equalization to show him one line in the UK judgement that a Ghanaian official took money from Airbus. “I will gladly resign” if they are able to find one line that says so. “Governments don’t talk they act, if you have evidence that John Mahama has done anything in the Airbus, he has dared you that bring it out, investigate me”.
