The NDC Chairman asserted that by Friday February 22, 2019, all constituencies across the country will be served with the relevant polling materials to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.

At the moment, Ofosu Ampofo intimated that the distribution has started with the farthest regions of Upper East, West and Northern being the first to be served.

The remaining regions will receive theirs by Thursday.

To allay fears of malpractices, the distribution he noted is being done with assistance from the various police commands in the districts.

“By tomorrow the remaining 5 districts i.e. Volta, Eastern, Greater Accra, Western and Central Region materials will be dispatched. Ultimately, we expect that by Friday we expect that the materials would have arrived at the various constituency offices under the supervision and security of the various police commands in the districts and then Saturday morning these materials will be distributed to the various constituency designated voting centers,” the NDC National Chairman detailed.

The NDC has slated February 23, 2019 as the day to elect its presidential candidate to lead it into the 2020 polls.

The fight to assume the high position of party leader is being contested for by about 7 aspirants including Former President Mahama, party stalwart Goosie Tanoh, Second Deputy Speaker Alban Bagbin, Former UPSA Vice Chancellor Joshua Alabi, Former NHIA CEO Sylvester Mensah.

The poll was expected to take place first in December 7 2018 but was moved to January 31st 2019 but court injunction compelled the party to further shift the date to 23rd February which it hopes will not see any change.

Ofosu Ampofo suggests that candidates have been included in the process of particularly procuring and distributing the electoral materials thus does not foresee any challenge arising from the processes so far.

“We have embarked on this process together with the aspirants and their representatives. So even at the printing house, the aspirants have their representatives 24hours, 3 shift system, monitoring and taking down details of the processes that goes on there. And then when the materials are being distributed the aspirants have been asked to get their representatives to follow the materials to the various regions to go and take delivery and then when it is handed over to the regions their representatives there will also ensure that the materials which are being redistributed t the various polling stations, their agents will also follow it up In order to ensure that there is openness, transparency and fairness in the whole process” he outlined.

The results the NDC Chairman disclosed will be announced at the polling stations before being transferred to the EC Headquarters in Accra where each candidates’ rep will be there to verify the outcomes.

The party’s election committee will also be there to supervise and collate the results which will then be announced at the party’s head office in Accra according to the NDC National Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo.
