According to him, the policy will end importers’ worry about rampant import duty changes affecting their businesses.

The former Trade and Industries minister added that the policy would give importers a clear idea of the fees they would pay while importing goods into the country.

“I’ll enforce a fixed rate on import duties for 6 months if elected.

“As President, I will implement this policy to help businesses plan their finances for the year with confidence, without worrying about fluctuating import costs.

“They will have a clear understanding of the duties they need to pay. This will contribute to building a more robust economy by giving businesses the support they need to grow,” Alan Kyeremanten stated in a social media post sighted by Awakenewsroom.

Alan Kyeremanten is expected to contest the upcoming presidential election as the leader of the Movement for Change following his exit from the ruling NPP. However, the M4C recently teamed up with a former CPP flagbearer, Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Foster and other Civil Society Organizations to form the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC). ARC aims to work on a grand alliance to contest the upcoming Presidential elections.

If cleared by the Electoral Commission, he would face former president John Dramani Mahama of the NDC and Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia of the NPP at the polls. Businessman and leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, is also expected to contest.
