The presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has slammed vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for kicking against the proposed 24-hour economy policy by former President John Dramani Mahama.
Addressing supporters to climax a health walk held in Kumasi on Saturday, December 2, Mr. Kyerematen noted that critics of the 24-hour economy policy should rather channel their energies to ask pertinent questions on how the policy should be implemented in a very suitable environment to create more jobs for teeming unemployed youth instead of seeking to shoot it down.
“Fomer President John Dramani Mahama came to say that he will implement a 24-hour economy when he comes. He is not wrong if he says that. Anyone who says the 24-hour economy is bad doesn’t understand politics. All those who are kicking against the 24-hour economy give credence to the fact that they themselves don’t understand the policy.
The 24-hour economy proposal by former President John Mahama has been met with huge criticism from the members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on various grounds.
The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has fiercely reacted to the policy, which he described as both ill-conceived and innovative, adding that John Mahama does not understand the policy.
Meanwhile, the largest labor force in the country, TUC, has endorsed the 24-HOUR ECONOMY policy, saying it’s a game changer for jobs and more.
