Speaking on Pan African TV’s Hot News programme, Mr. Senyo said it [ads1]is very surprising how the government from day one started clearing its official in any corruption allegations leveled against them to date.

Recalling the events where many appointees have been cleared he stated “the current Parliment opened with bribery allegations against the then nominee for the Energy Ministry, Boakye Agyarko by the minority, there were this same back and forth between the two sides of the house and eventually the man was cleared. Then BOST fuel contamination saga, the MD was cleared; A-Plus’ allegations against the two Deputy Chief of Staffs – they were also cleared”.

“Not to take about the finance minister in the issuance of the controversial bond – he was cleared”

“The most disturbing is this cash for seat saga for which the president in his media encounter cleared the minister even before the committee set up by parliament commerces its investigations. And now the reports is out and truly the minister has been cleared.”

“This government has become a clearing agent.” – he fumed

Mr. Senyo has also stated that the partisan manner in which parliament is handling these issues of huge public is very disappointing and dent the image of the Parliment and the nation.

He questions the basis on which the committee has cleared the minister and why minority is walking out of the debate saying “the committee has so many questions to answer”.

“The committee set up to investigate this issues was not tasked for NPP and NDC to present their partisan sides of the finding but a comprehensive report that captures the outcome common evidence and witnesses that before the committee”

He has since called on civil society to mount pressure for an independent investigation into the matter.

He, however, added that “since the president who could have been petitioned in this matter for an independent investigation into the issues already cleared the minister of any wrong doing who could be petitioned?”
