Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo

In less than 24hours since the Auditor-General, Mr. Yaw Domelevo returns from his forced 106 accumulated leave, President Akufo-Addo has fired him citing his retirement age.

Yesterday, documents in the media suggested that the Audit Service Board had written a letter to the Auditor-General saying documents available to them show that he was born in 1960 and not 1961 therefore, had to retire in June 2020. The letter also said Mr. Domelevo is a Togolese and not Ghana.

In Mr. Yaw Domelevo’s response to the Board said he discovered that his date of birth which mentioned 1960 was a mistake adding that he has since corrected that. He also said his grandfather is from Ada in the Greater Accra Region and migrated to Togo where his father was born before they return to Ghana.

But Mr. Domelevo resumed work today.

However, President Akufo-Addo’s letter is asking the Auditor General to vacate office.
