Former President and flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama has criticized the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led NPP government for deceiving Ghanaians with promises they knew they never intended to keep.
Speaking during his tour of the North East Region, John Mahama said Ghanaians have seen the truth. He added that based on what the government has given the citizens, Ghanaians will be advised accordingly when they cast their votes on December 7.
“It is the hypocrisy that is annoying,” Mahama told the crowd. “This is the same government where somebody said that if it was just borrowing and spending even their child in primary school can be president.”
“Every sector is in trouble. All the state-owned enterprises that were making profit under the NDC administration, today all of them are making losses. So, this government has been a disaster,” the NDC flagbearer stated.
Expressing his disgust at the turn of things, the former leader of the country said, the NPP under Akufo-Addo and Bawumia is Ghana’s biggest scam. He said President Akufo-Addo and Bawumia successfully packaged lies and deceit and sold it to Ghanaians to win elections.
“Indeed, I say that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration is the biggest political scam in the history of the fourth republic. They packaged themselves very beautifully with a lot of lies and deceits and they got the people to vote for them. Today, it is just a story of broken promises,” John Mahama stated.
However, John Mahama added that hope is not lost. He said Ghanaians have the chance to change the misfortunes their choice in previous elections has brought upon the country. John Mahama explained that a vote for the NDC on December 7 is a decision to walk out of the grips of this current mess.
“The good thing about democracy is, every four years we have the opportunity to make a change, we have the opportunity to make a choice. And so, Ghanaians are called upon again on 7th December 2024, to exercise their mandate and make a choice.
According to him, it will be a surprise if people still opt to vote for a continuation of this current regime despite the misery citizens live in every day. He said the only people that will not think twice while in the voting booth to cast their votes are those who directly benefited from the scam.
“And after what we have gone through in seven and half years, it surprises me, anybody who would still go to the ballot box and say he is going to vote for NPP again. Maybe those who have made money under this government, they will go and vote again. But I know that the majority of Ghanaians have seen a reversal in the quality of their lives in this seven and half years,” Mahama stated.
