A storm is brewing in the Akwapim South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as some members have accused the Constituency Chairman, Kojo Benny, of employment abuse.
The allegations have sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for the chairman’s immediate removal.
At the heart of the controversy are claims that Chairman Benny has been withholding job opportunities meant for loyal party members.
The members, who spoke at a press conference in Brekusu, expressed their frustration and disappointment, stating that the chairman’s actions were undermining the unity of the party and sowing discord among the ranks.
The group has demanded that the national party leadership intervene and investigate the allegations.
Angel Yirenkyi, the branch chairman at Brekusu, emphasized that the group is not happy and is demanding accountability. “We are not going to sit down and allow one person to destroy the party,” he said.
The situation has taken a dramatic turn, with posters and banners springing up in the constituency, calling for Chairman Benny’s removal.
The banners, which bear the inscription “Remove Kojo As Chairman of the Constituency”, have added to the tension within the party.
Despite efforts to reach him, Chairman Benny was unavailable for comment.
The national party leadership has yet to respond to the allegations, but the situation is being closely monitored by the party faithful.
