Popular Ghanaian actor and TV host Akwasi Boadi, famously known as Akrobeto, narrowly escaped injury in a road accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 23, 2025, at Ohene Nkwanta in Odumasi, part of the Asante Akyem Central Municipality. Akrobeto was en route to Kumasi when the crash happened.
According to eyewitness Peter Mensah, a local taxi driver who spoke to Adom News reporter Isaac Amoako, the accident was triggered when a tricycle, locally referred to as an Aboboyaa, suddenly veered onto the road without warning.
To avoid hitting the tricycle, the driver of a heavy-duty truck behind Akrobeto’s car swerved and slammed into the rear of the actor’s vehicle, registered GW 635-24. The impact caused the truck to drag the vehicle for a short distance.
Despite the frightening moment, Akrobeto came out completely unhurt, and there were no reported injuries or fatalities.
Videos from the scene show bystanders gathering around the visibly shaken actor, who appeared calm as others inspected the damage to his car.
The news quickly spread across social media, with fans expressing relief and gratitude that the beloved entertainer escaped the accident unharmed.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, but local residents at Ohene Nkwanta are calling for better road safety measures, particularly for tricycles operating on highways.
Akrobeto is known for his work in Kumawood films and his widely watched satirical news segment “Real News” aired on UTV.
