Former Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority, Akosua Manu, has expressed deep skepticism over the credibility of the probe launched by President John Dramani Mahama into recent allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering at Kotoka International Airport.

Appearing on Breakfast Daily on Channel One News, Manu raised serious concerns about the impartiality of the investigation. According to her, misleading statements made by the President’s spokesperson have already compromised public trust in the process.

“The bottom line is, I don’t even trust the probe the President is asking for,” Manu said. “His spokesperson has already tainted the matter. Not because physical evidence has been revealed, but because the sequence of events suggests a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.”

She accused the spokesperson of lying about crucial details regarding the aircraft involved, including its maintenance status and travel route.

“He told barefaced lies. He lied about the maintenance part, he lied about the aircraft, he lied about the maintenance schedule, and the route,” she charged. “On what basis did he even have that information to put out there?”

Citing these discrepancies, Manu argued that a government-led investigation lacks the neutrality needed to address such a serious issue and called for an independent bipartisan committee to take charge.

Her remarks come amid growing public concern over the alleged smuggling activities, which have cast a shadow over airport security and Ghana’s international reputation. Calls for transparency and accountability continue to mount as citizens demand clarity over the unfolding scandal.
