Akatsi Senior High Technical wins maiden edition of Vakpor Avenor debate competition

The Akatsi Senior High Technical school triumphed over their traditional capital rivals, Avenor Senior High School to win the maiden edition of the Vakpor Avenor debate competition.

The competition is instituted by the Avenor Traditional Council, [ads1]spearhead by the Central Planning Committee of Vakpor Avenor festival in collaboration with Aimers Africa and ReadWell Bookshop, as part of activities that prelude the main event come November 24th 2018.

The competition saw four schools -two from the traditional capital, Avenorfeme (Avenor Senior High sch/Avenorfeme Youth Vocational Institute), and the Administrative capital, Akatsi (Akatsi Sen. High Tech/Human Factor Sen. High Sch).
Between each set of schools, was a different topic for the debate.

“Traditional leaders should be considered as development agents of Avenor rather than political leaders”

Avenor Sen. High vs Avenorfeme Y’th Voc. Institute

“Venturing into Agriculture by the youth of Avenor will not help develop Avenor like other kinds of trade or employment”  Speak for or against the motion.

Akatsi Senior High Technical and Avenor Senior High progressed to the finals after beating Human Factor and Avenorfeme Y’th Vocational Institute respectively; bringing the finals into a strong rivalry between the two capitals.

Between the two schools; Akatsi Senior High Technical and Avenor, they were tasked to argue out on the topic “Traveling out for greener pastures will help develop avenor more than staying behind”, which in the end, Akast convincingly became winners.

The winning school (Akast) went away with a set of books, a citation, medals and a trophy in honour of their victory.

Each of the other participating schools received a citation, in addition to a set of books for the 2nd and 3rd place schools for  their performance.
