The Volta Regional Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, has described as malicious and conversion of vile propaganda by the NDC, news of a ‘mass defection’ of some members of the NPP to the National Democratic Congress in the Akatsi North Constituency.
News of mass defection of some members of the Akatsi North NPP into the NDC was reported by mynewsgh.com and Ghanaweb, purported to have happened during the visit of former President, John Dramani Mahama to the constituency as part of his six-day campaign tour of the Volta region.
The alleged defected members accused the leadership of the NPP in the constituency as ‘selfish, evil, and egoistic’ and stated further the total neglect of the Akatsi North District, by the Nana Addo leg government.
According to Mr. Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, these claims are an attempt to give prominence and relevance to the campaign of the ‘underserving’ John Dramani Mahama, saying it is a prank the NDC leadership in has always employed each time the former President visited the constituency.
“I am not surprised by the action of the NDC to attempt to give prominence and relevance to the campaign of the undeserving ‘incompetent one’ John Mahama, during his tour to the Akatsi North”

“I wish to let the whole world understand, that one of the usual pranks the NDC leadership always engage in whenever they visit Akatsi; to stage the drama of their own NDC members, disguised as NPP sympathizers and claiming defection to their own party, the NDC”, he said.
“As already stated, this paleful story aimed at giving sensational headline to draw attention, is a routine of the NDC, always claiming defections to their already majority in the Akatsi North Constituency each time their Presidential aspirants visited. It has become a norm where the NDC gives NPP branded T-shirts to some of its members and claim they have defected from NPP to join them,” he added.
Mr. Bodja also shot down the claims of neglect and denial of scholarship opportunities by the alleged defected members, saying that, free SHS, scholarship for final year students and other GETFUND projects have improved enrollment and the infrastructure of schools in the district under the watch of the NPP.
“The New Patriotic Party government through the Akatsi North District Assembly is indeed bringing prosperity to the people by the provision of the following facilities; construction of access roads, streetlights across the district,
renovation of maternity the block at Ave Dakpa health center, construction of a three Unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Ave – Afiadenyigba Vocational Technical School, supply of mono desks to Ave Senior High and many others time will not allow us to exhaust”.
