Ghana’s International Tennis Federation Seniors winner, Andrews Kofi Appiah Kubi(AKAAK), this week made trophy presentations to the minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Usif at the Sports Ministry in Accra.
The two trophies were won by Andrews Appiah at 2020 International Tennis Federation Seniors Competition in Mumbai, India.
The tournament brought together Senior tennis players representing various age categories.
In the Men’s 35+ Single, Andrews Appiah won the trophy in the finals by defeating India’s Farid Usmani in a 7-5, 6-2 scoreline.
He further went, in partnership with his Indian Doubles partner, Akash, to place second in the Men’s 40+ Doubles final match.
This achievement, currently makes him the first and only Ghanaian to have won an ITF Seniors Title.
The Sports minister commended the ITF Champion for his emulating achievement and hoped this would encourage the other players in the sport to take up such challenge and raise high the flag of Ghana.
