The National Democratic Congress has today Tuesday at their party’s headquarters in their weekly press briefing hinted of an intended mammoth demonstration against President Nana Akuffo-Addo and his government in the first week of December.
The NDC said in collaboration with Civil society organizations the intended mammoth demonstration titled ” Ye gyi ye sika” “to wit” “we are collecting our money” in relation to the infamous “Agyepa deal”.
The NDC said the “Agyapa deal” that they (minority) and other civil society organizations kicked against has been finally exposed by the Special Prosecutor as a fraudulent deal, hence monies paid to President Nana Akuffo Addo’s two cousins Finance Minister (Ken Offori Attah and Gabby Otchere-Darko) illegally must be retrieved to the state.
The NDC has given the Nana Akufo-Addo led government the option to take appropriate steps in retrieving the monies paid to Data Bank and Africa legal associates involved in the Agyapa deal or risk the wrath of the party through a series of mammoth demonstrations in December and legal actions.
NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia addressing the press briefing said president Nana Akuffo Addo has up to seven days to take that action or get ready for what is coming at him.
“The NDC, hereby, demands that President Akufo-Addo retrieves the state’s the billions of cedis his government has illegally paid under the shady ‘Agyapa’ deal to Databank, which is owned by his cousin and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta; African Legal Associates, which is owned by another cousin of his, Gabby Otchere Darko; and their foreign compradors, within the next 7 days, failing which the NDC and other like-minded progressive forces, shall embark on series of protest and legal actions to ensure that every pesewa paid to these companies are refunded back to the State for nation-building.”
Adding to what the General Secretary said, the NDC’s Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, said the nation will witness what will be the biggest demonstration ever to hit the country if Gabby Otchere-Darko and the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta fail to refund the monies they have been paid for the Agyapa deal. He further added that “ In the first week of December this year, if Ken Ofori-Atta and Gabby Otchere-Darko, in particular, don’t refund the billions of taxpayers monies they have been paid, we will demonstrate”.
Sammy Gyamfi stressed that the “Agyapa deal” is no different from other transactions that had been declared by the Supreme Court as illegal in this country. “We now know that the agreements under which they were paid are illegal. This is just like the Woyome Saga; this is just like the Isofoton deal under which payments were made under agreements declared by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional and for that matter are null and void,” The “Agyapa deal” payments to President Nana Akuffo Addo’s two cousins is like Isofoton and Wayome saga that was based on mandate agreements that lacked parliamentary approval. Sammy Gyamfi again noted.
Sammy Gyamfi said this is not an empty threat by the NDC and that not even security agencies can stop the demonstration from happening. He concluded.
