The African Centre for Peace Building-AFCOPB has called for Ghanaians to remain calm and optimistic as final verdict from the Supreme Court of Ghana.
In a statement, the Executive Director, Korsi Senyo said “Ghana is a very peaceful country and this peace must not be marred by our political differences”. He maintained that, the leadership of the two political parties involved in the election petition case should conscientize their supporters to accept whatever is the outcome of the verdict of the Supreme Court to safeguard the country’s peace and high earned democracy.
The peace of this nation is very important for all aspects of our development processes. When conflicts arise, lives and properties are lost and the most vulnerable in conflict situations are women and children.
“With recent occurrences in our neighboring countries, many Ghanaians must be aware of the prize they are likely to pay should any individual or group of persons in the name of political differences try to distort the peace of this country”. He added
Korsi Senyo called on all African leaders to see an election as one of the development processes that will help improve the lives of their people “Elections are not battle field where only guns and bullet determine the winner; it is a process of choosing our leaders who could complement efforts to improving the lives of their people”
he Centre since its inception has pursued activities which enable individuals to make peaceful decisions for themselves and their families and also have their peace of mind to carry on with their daily activities.
“We will not relent on our efforts in fostering peace during this present situation. Ghana has been an epitome of peace and democracy as such we need to maintain this feat before and after the passing of the verdict by the Supreme Court.” Korsi Senyo assures
