Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former MP for Dome Kwabenya, has openly questioned the authority of the NPP’s General Secretary to restrict members from discussing the party’s recent electoral loss.

Speaking on Joy Prime, she emphasized her right to share her views, pointing out that other party leaders, including the General Secretary himself, have publicly commented on the defeat. She maintained that since everyone has a constitutional right to free speech, it should be permitted.

Adwoa Safo’s comments reveal growing tensions within the party as members analyze the reasons behind their loss.

“We all have the right to express ourselves, and that includes me,” she said. “The General Secretary began speaking publicly after we lost the election, going around explaining the situation. He even went as far as telling people not to blame him for the loss,” she said.

She raised concerns about the General Secretary’s ability to openly criticize former President Akufo-Addo on radio, saying that the president was not listening to the party’s counsel during cabinet meetings.

“And now, when it’s my turn to speak, a statement is being issued. What locus does he have to do that?” she quizzed.

She stressed, “He was on the radio himself, so if he wants to write a letter to me, he should do so privately. This statement is too vague, and I don’t think it’s something I need to respond to.”
