The Disciplinary Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to meet with former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP), Sarah Adwoa Safo today, Monday, April 7, 2025, as part of an investigation into her alleged disregard of a directive issued by the party.
The committee is probing claims that Adwoa Safo violated party rules by publicly making statements that have caused disaffection within the party ranks.
The invitation for Adwoa Safo to appear before the committee was formally issued by the NPP’s headquarters in Accra.
A letter addressed to Adwoa Safo, which is dated March 24, 2025, outlines the scheduled hearing, providing specific details of the investigation.
According to the letter, Adwoa Safo is being asked to assist the committee with its inquiry regarding statements made publicly that have been deemed detrimental to the party’s unity and image.
The letter, signed by Patrick Boamah, the Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, notes that the hearing will take place at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, starting at 11:00 a.m.
The party has also advised Adwoa Safo to bring any documentary evidence or witnesses that might be relevant to the case.
Furthermore, the former MP has been informed that she is entitled to legal representation during the proceedings, should she choose to have counsel present.
The letter emphasizes that the NPP remains committed to transparency, fairness, and due process in handling matters within the party, underscoring the importance of following established procedures.
The committee’s probe comes after Adwoa Safo’s recent actions, which some party officials believe have undermined party unity, particularly with her vocal public criticisms.
Her statements are said to have violated a directive that all members refrain from engaging in public discussions that could lead to disunity or disaffection within the NPP.
