Local Black Stars coach Maxwell Konadu after the 2-2 draw last weekend at the Stadé du 4 Aoùt in Ouagadougou in the first leg of the 2018 Championship for Africa Nations (CHAN) says Ghana has the advantage of booking a place in the championship next year.
“We have an advantage now because we scored two goals away. Now the pressure will be on us to go and try to win convincingly and that is where the problem is.
“We have to psych ourselves and make sure we do the right things at all times and make sure we are fully concentrated to get the maximum points to get the team going.
We have to do the right things in the second leg if we want to qualify. The Burkinabe team is not a bad side and we have to be careful”, he told the media at the post match conference when asked if the reverse leg will be a mere formality for the Black Stars.
Captain for the Local Black Stars Daniel Darkwa who was substituted in the game after picking an injury said he is confident Ghana will qualify for the championship next year.
“I am not disappointed in our results even though we wanted to win the game. My injury wasn’t serious but felt bad when I was substituted. I will be fit for the second leg. I cannot promise Ghanaians but I am 100% sure we will qualify to the CHAN tournament”.
The Local Black Stars will host the Burkinabe’s this weekend at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
