Krowor Municipal Assembly is boiling over the arrest of three members of the assembly perceived to be members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) working against the confirmation of the two times fail nominee for the assembly.
The three, Hon. Alfred Ahisah Laryea, Hon. Lawrence Borquaye and Hon. Robert Odiko were said to be arrested last night on the orders of the Member of Parliament for the area who also doubles as the Minister of Fisheries & Aquaculture.
The nominee for the MCE position Mr. Joshua Bortey, a close friend of the MP Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, has been rejected on two occasions, a situation she [the MP] feels was orchestrated by the same three assembly members hence their arrest to prevent them from participating in the election and or influencing other members against the MCE’s confirmation.
The three which spent the night at the Nungua Police station in Accra were sent to the Krowor District Court this morning and then to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.
Awake News can confirmed that the three have been sent to the Accra Circuit Court near the Kwame Nkrumah Museum. It is not year clear the charged press against the trio but it is been said that their arrest is base on “order from above”.
Some leading members and lawyers (Edudzi Tameklo, Francis Sosu) for the opposition NDC have also been sported in the court premises.
Meanwhile, Awake News have gathered that the assembly meeting to confirm the MCE is currently underway under heavy armed Police projection.
