To celebrate his birthday, Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has donated an ambulance to the Juapong Health Center.

This was a redemption of a pledge he made to the people of North Tongu to donate two ambulances to them from his own funding. This ambulance is the first between the two.

Today, the Chiefs and people of Volo, Dorfor, Fodzoku and Torgorme traditional areas have witnessed the generosity of the legislator.

He reminisced how before he became a member of parliament, most of the constituents complained of the neglect of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their MPs when they are voted into power. He said he promised them that he will restore their hopes and make his office more accountable to the people. He is glad that the people gave him their votes. He was also glad that he has been able to fulfill all his promises to the people of North Tongu. He talked about roads and education facilities among many other interventions. That was why he was given the name ‘Torgbe Worgbedzi’ which in Ewe language means, ‘The man who fulfills his promises’.

Concerning the donation, he lamented the lack of ambulances in the country and called on all to help allay the situation. He mentioned that this will help prevent avoidable deaths which were becoming rampant.

Noteworthy is the fact that the MP had also provided two years accommodation for the new resident doctor for the area.

As appreciation, he said his wife was a rock of support to him. He also thanked the Catholic Church for their support for education and health accessibility in the country.

The MP joins the list of law makers who see the need to help their constituents to access emergency healthcare by providing them with one of Ghana’s highly needed facilities.

The chiefs, who were delighted and full of joy, expressed their gratitude for the donation. As the saying goes of Oliver Twist, they asked that the MP should help convert the Juapong Health Center into a polyclinic.

The chairman of the occasion, Torgbe Ananse Titriku XII, admonished the people not to forget the good deed of the MP.

Other items such as wheel chairs were also donated.
