Bernard Mornarh, National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), says his group will hold similar ‘Aagbe Wo’ demonstrations across the regions should their demands not be heeded.
The group, Inter-Party Coalition for National Sovereignty, organised a demonstration last Thursday to demand the resignation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Asante Apeatu, Minister for National Security Kan Dapaah and Minister of State in-charge of National Security Bryan Acheampong for the brutality that was meted out on unarmed citizens by operatives of the National Security at a by-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Speaking on an Accra-based radio station on Saturday, Mr Mornarh, who is also the convener of the Coalition, pooh-poohed the establishment of the government’s Commission of Enquiry into the Wuogon violence.
He said the outcome of the Commission’s works had already been compromised, considering first and foremost, the composition of the members, secondly, the President’s earlier pronouncement that the election was peaceful and lastly, statements by John Boadu, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that the government would not axe the three key persons whom the Coalition had fingered in their petitions.
“And so we are watching and I can promise you that if the state of insecurity in our country is not reversed, the Aagbe Wo demonstration will go regional,” he ended.
