Mr. George Dakeh, the Volta deputy regional organiser of the NDC, has admonish party members especially party executives, to do away with self-seeking attitudes, greed, complacency in order to make the party once more attractive to the grassroot.
According to him, these are the core factors that caused the voter apathy experienced in the Volta region, during the 2016 general elections.
Speaking to our reporter at the party’s Volta regional office in Ho, yesterday, Mr. Dakeh posited that, party members were aggrieved and fed up with such inherent attitudes of which the party’s leadership including himself have exhibited whilst in power, leading to the party’s defeat in the December, 2016 general elections.
He is therefore calling on a new leadership, to be more transparent and honest to the very people who form the core of the party -grassroot. “If we want to come back to power in 2020, we must do away with greed, complacency and be honest and transparent to the grassroot.”
“For me, I’ve been the deputy regional youth organiser and I must say, my motivation comes from the 4years study of the party’s organizational structure and I think I’ve enough experience to step up to become the regional organiser.”
He added further that, the grassroots need something that can pull them closer to the party.
“Our activities must be in the interest of the people, something that can pull them to the party, something that would be of income generation and can make the constituencies independent without having to continue depending on the MPs. If we do these, coupled with transparency, I’m sure it will eventually increase voter turn out in the region for the NDC”.
“We must equally apologize to the grassroot, energize our message and make sure such promises will would be making to them are realistic; and I want to be part the team that would bring on board such a revolution”. he added.
