Kwesi Pratt has raised alarm over growing internal issues within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly frustrations among party workers regarding unpaid salaries.
On Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Pratt revealed that several members of the NPP working at the party’s headquarters have voiced their dissatisfaction over not receiving wages for their work. Some workers even took to social media to express their grievances, accusing the party of prioritizing resources for a “Thank You Tour” while neglecting to pay staff.
Although Pratt refrained from explaining why the payments had stopped, he hinted that he had some ideas about the underlying reasons, though he chose not to disclose them publicly.
He also touched on the evolving leadership dynamics within the party, highlighting a shift in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s role after the elections. According to Pratt, Dr. Bawumia is no longer the automatic presidential candidate for the NPP and is now in the same position as other potential contenders for the party’s presidential nomination.
Pratt stressed that the NPP should be shifting its focus toward long-term preparations for the 2028 elections, with a strong emphasis on solidifying its leadership structure under Mr. Stephen Ntim, the newly appointed National Chairman, who has been central to the party’s leadership even during the elections.
