The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued a product recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte (Tetra Pak – 250ml & Canned – 330ml Pétillante) due to safety concerns and regulatory violations.

According to the FDA, the product has been found on the Ghanaian market and advertised on social media, despite not being registered with the Authority.

“The operations of the importer of these products are in violation of Sections 97, 98, and 103 of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851) as they are not duly registered by the FDA, making their sale and distribution illegal,” the FDA stated.

Additionally, the FDA noted that the products are unregistered, and their packaging and size are deceptive and misleading, exposing children to potential accidental alcohol ingestion and posing a danger to their health and safety.

The FDA has advised consumers not to purchase or consume these unregistered products.

Retailers and wholesalers have been directed to immediately cease distribution and sale of these products, and all stocks should be returned to the nearest outlets of Cave and Garden Ghana Limited and FDA’s offices nationwide.

“The importer has been sanctioned, and regulatory measures are being enforced,” the FDA stated.

The Authority remains committed to protecting health and safety and has urged the public to report any information regarding the sale of this product via its official communication channels.
